Villiers in denial about the enormity of collusion – Hazzard
Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard has called on Theresa Villiers to face up to the overwhelming evidence that the British state actively colluded in the murders of six men in Loughinisland in 1994.
Chris Hazzard was speaking after the British Secretary of State responded to the publication of the Police Ombudsman’s Report on the 1994 massacre.
Chris Hazzard said:
“Theresa Villiers’ arrogance on the issue of collusion is breathtaking.
“She continues to remain in denial about the sheer enormity of the British state’s collusion with loyalist death squads despite the overwhelming evidence.
“The Police Ombudsman was very clear that there was British state collusion in the murders of six men in Loughinisland and the 20 years of cover-ups which followed.
“British agents and intelligence services were also actively involved from start to finish in bringing in assault rifles from South Africa which were used in 70 murders by loyalist death squads controlled by the state.
“Theresa Villiers should face up to the overwhelming evidence of British state collusion. She must end the cover-ups and the delays on bogus 'national security' grounds which led to the Loughinisland families having to battle for 20 years to get to the truth.”
