Brexit would deny opportunities to young people - Anderson

13 June, 2016 - by Martina Anderson MEP

Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said leaving the European Union and the loss of funding would deny opportunities to young people.

Speaking after visiting the Fab Lab in north Belfast, Ms Anderson said;

"I visited the Fab Lab in Belfast today to see at first hand how they are promoting creativity and entrepreneurship by providing people with ideas with the technology to make them happen.

"This excellent facility now employs 180 people and last year more than 2,500 came through its doors; 600 of whom later found employment as a result of their experience.

"Fab Lab has benefited from £9m in European Social Funds over the last three years.

"In the event of a Brexit, this funding would be lost and with it the huge opportunities it has created for our young people.

"That is why it is important that voters Put Ireland First and vote to Remain in the EU on June 23."
