Urgent need for more social housing in rural areas - McMullan
Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has said there is an urgent need for more social housing in rural areas.
Mr McMullan said;
"One of the most pressing issues in rural areas at the moment is the lack of social housing.
"In my own constituency of East Antrim no houses have been built for years in areas like Cushendall, Cushendun and Waterfoot.
"This means that young people who want to stay and live in rural areas are not able to and have to move away from their families and go to urban areas.
"I raised this with Minister for Communities Paul Givan this week in the Assembly and asked what is being done to address housing need in rural areas.
"The minister agreed to go and meet the Housing Executive to see what can be done to provide more housing.
"I will continue to raise this important issue with the minister to see what progress is being made."
