Ó Muilleoir marks Ramadan
Finance Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir has visited Belfast Islamic Centre at the end of fasting on Wednesday to mark Ramadan and to show support for their plans for a new Islamic cultural centre in Belfast.
The Minister said:
“I’m delighted to visit the Belfast Islamic Centre and meet with so many of the community leaders making a constructive contribution to our society. There is an urgent need for a new Islamic cultural centre in Belfast which will serve the growing Muslim community and function as a centre of inter-faith understanding and peacemaking. I am pleased to hear that steady progress is being made in delivering that new centre."
"I took the opportunity to wish our Muslim community a very happy Ramadan and express the wish that the holy month, which comes to an end next week, brings peace and joy to our Muslim neighbours"
Ramadan is the annual period during which prayer, fasting, and giving to charity becomes the focus of Muslims’ everyday lives for an entire month.
