Sinn Féin to host public meetings on EU referendum
Sinn Féin MLA John O'Dowd has said a series of public meetings will be held across the north over coming weeks to discuss the EU referendum.
Mr O'Dowd said;
"The people of the North clearly voted to remain in the European Union in last week's referendum.
"That vote must be recognised and respected. This is not a done deal and it is still all to play for.
"Sinn Féin will be holding a series of public meetings across the North in the coming weeks to discuss how we can ensure the democratic will of the people of the north is realised.
"The first meeting will be held in Belfast on Tuesday evening and will be followed by meetings in Derry, Newry, Strabane and Fermanagh later in the week.
"The remain side brought together republicans, nationalists, unionists, trade unions, and wider civic society. Sinn Féin has called for a National Forum to be established to bring together different strands of opinion to discuss our future in the EU.
"This series of meetings, which will involve Sinn Féin leadership representatives, offer a chance to make your voice heard and ensure that your vote counts.
"Sinn Féin will continue to work to make sure that the voice of the people of the people of the North is heard and recognised."
