Rural communities left vulnerable due to loyalist disturbances - McMullan
Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has said rural areas are being left vulnerable to crime because of loyalist disturbances in Carrickfergus.
The East Antrim MLA said;
"The disturbances organised by loyalist paramilitaries in Carrickfergus in recent days have led to police resources from across the East Antrim area to be redeployed away from their normal duties.
"This has left rural communities vulnerable to crime.
"There is a clear need for the PSNI to tackle the ongoing criminality from loyalist armed groups in East Antrim, both in terms of the problems we witnessed in Carrickfergus and the ongoing drug problems in Larne.
"Rural communities should not be left without policing because of the activities of loyalist thugs."
