HSE and Dept of Health need to resolve dispute with the Psychiatric Nurses – Devine
Sinn Féin Senator Máire Devine is calling on the Minister for Health to intervene with the Department of Health and HSE to urgently resolve the dispute between the Psychiatric Nurses Association and the HSE and prevent it from entering phase 3 which is due to commence next week. Phase 2 of the dispute was entered this morning and involves a further removal of acts of goodwill and non-mandatory duties. Phase 3 will involve an overtime ban.
Senator Devine said:
“Overtime is crucial to the effective running of psychiatric services and therefore. This dispute needs to be resolved urgently to prevent patient care being impacted.
“After speaking to the PNA this morning, they acknowledge progress has been made but there remain issues outstanding. I am now calling on the Minister for Health to ensure both his Dept. and the HSE engage intensively with the PNA and ensure patient and staff safety is not compromised.”
