Major Redevelopment at the Old Swiss Cottage Pub in Santry – Reilly

14 July, 2016

Commenting after a planning application was lodged for the redevelopment of the Old Swiss Cottage Pub and Restaurant in Santry, Dublin City Councillor Noeleen Reilly said:

“The area has been run down for a number of years now so any improvement is welcome providing residents are consulted during construction works.

“The development will consist of the demolition of the former Swiss Cottage Bar and Restaurant structure and the rear wall and part of derelict dwelling on Schoolhouse Lane, and the construction of a three storey mixed use structure comprising a retail unit, a takeaway unit, a two storey restaurant/cafe unit at ground and first floor level and some office accommodation.

“I think this will breathe some new life into that part of Santry.  I would have some concerns about traffic management as the road is extremely busy at currently.

“Currently, a Pedestrian Crossing is being built beside the Development at Magenta Crescent and this should help matters, but it is certainly something that needs to be look at.”
