Voluntary Housing Body Oaklee to develop 42 Units on Ballymun Road – Reilly
Local Dublin City Cllr for Ballymun/Whitehall Noeleen Reilly has welcomed the acquisition by Oaklee Housing Trust of the Stormanstown site on Ballymun Road.
Speaking in Ballymun today, Cllr Reilly said:
“The approved housing body Oaklee have acquired this land and are in the process of clearing the site as it was left in a terrible condition by the last owner Grassridge Ltd.
“Oaklee will develop 42 units which will cater for families on the social housing waiting list.
“This is in stark contrast to previous plans on the site which did not cater for any social housing units, something I criticised at the time.
“Stormanstown is currently on the derelict sites register since 2015 and many attempts to get the previous owner to clear the area have been unsuccessful.
“Residents have unfortunately had to live beside this in its current state for the last decade and it really was not ideal.
“Given the past issues with this site, it is vitally important that residents on Shanard Avenue and Ballymun road are consulted with at all times.
“This development is badly needed in the area and this site has been left idle for too long.
“These family homes are expected to ready in 2017.”
