Ó Donnghaile wishes Irish Olympians well
Sinn Féin Seanadóir Niall Ó Donnghaile today wished Ireland's sporting heroes well at the Rio Olympics.
"I'd like to wish well all those sporting heroes from Ireland who are on their way to Rio for the Olympics.
"It will be great to see medal winner Paddy Barnes carry Ireland's national flag during the opening ceremony.
"It will be a significant moment for him and for the people of Ireland that Paddy, from Belfast, was chosen for such a distinguished honour.
"The Irish Olympians are fantastic ambassadors for this country, for their chosen discipline and for young people.
"I was also delighted to see the send-off the Irish hockey team got from the assembly on their way to Rio.
"The Olympians are powerful role models for young people and personally embody the benefit sport can bring to people's lives and to communities across Ireland."
