Show your support for Belfast Pride 2016 - Lynch

27 July, 2016 - by Seán Lynch

Sinn Féin MLA Sean Lynch has encouraged people to attend events organised as part of the annual Belfast Pride festival.

The Sinn Féin equality spokesperson said:

“This Friday we will launch the Sinn Féin programme for Belfast Pride in the Long Gallery at Stormont.

“At this event we will outline a number of party Pride events and sign the pledge against homophobia and transphobia and encourage those in attendance to do so as well.

“The Pride festival continues to go from strength and is a now a real staple of the calendar.

“I would encourage everyone to attend the pride events which will be held over the course of next week culminating with Belfast Pride on Saturday 6th August.

“Earlier this year the reversal of the lifetime blood ban by Health Minister Michelle O’Neill was another step towards total equality for the LGBT+ community.

“Pride provides a platform for discussion about equality and raising awareness about issues faced by the LGBT+ community.

“Sinn Féin remains committed to campaigning for equal rights for all sections of the community across Ireland and we are determined to see marriage equality across the island.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
