McGuinness reiterates call for Taylor release
Sinn Féin deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MLA has reiterated his call for the immediate release of Derry republican Tony Taylor.
Speaking after meeting with Mr Taylor's wife Lorraine, the Foyle MLA commented:
"Tony Taylor was returned to prison on the word of previous British Secretary of State Theresa Villiers without any evidence being presented.
"I have raised this matter directly with Theresa Villiers and her successor James Brokenshire.
“I will continue to do so because his arrest and imprisonment without recourse to due process is totally unacceptable and he should either be released immediately or brought before a court and given due process.
Lorraine Taylor also urged people to attend a public rally, which is taking place in the city this week.
"She said: "It’s crucial that we send a strong message that Tony's illegal imprisonment is unacceptable so I am calling on people to attend the rally which takes place on August 6 at 3pm in Guildhall Square."
