McCann expresses concern over threat of hostel closure

5 August, 2016 - by Fra McCann

Sinn Fen MLA Fra McCann has expressed concern over the potential closure of the Regina Coeli Hostel.

The party housing spokesperson said:

“This situation needs to be dealt with urgently.

“The hostel caters for up to 21 homeless women many of whom have complex issues.

“Myself and Paul Maskey MP met with a delegation of the women and with representatives from the Legion of Mary who run the hostel and have pledged our support to save this vital service.

“We will also meet with the Chief Executive and other senior Housing Executive officials to try and find a solution to this issue.

“We will seek assurance that those homeless woman who are threatened with losing their emergency accommodation are given some certainty of their future in Regina Coeli until such time that they are permanently housed.”
