Head of the OCI should appear before Oireachtas Committee - Imelda Munster TD
Sinn Féin spokesperson on Sport Imelda Munster TD has said the head of the Olympic Committee of Ireland Pat Hickey should appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Tourism, Transport and Sport to answer questions about the controversy surrounding the touting of Irish tickets at the Olympics.
Speaking this afternoon Teachta Munster said;
“We need to get to the bottom of how these tickets ended up in the hands of a suspected ticket tout in Rio.
“It is not good enough for Minister Ross to simply call for cooperation with existing investigations both locally and by the Olympic Committee of Ireland. He should establish his own inquiry into this controversy.
“Furthermore the head of the OCI Pat Hickey should appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Tourism, Transport and Sport to answer questions relating to this matter.
“This issue is damaging our international reputation and it is important that we establish the facts of the matter as quickly as possible in order to minimise that damage.”
