Prompt action of residents prevented further damage to suicide charity – Ní Chuilín

15 August, 2016 - by Carál Ní Chuilín

Sinn Féin MLA for North Belfast Caral Ní Chuilín has praised local residents for raising the alarm regarding a break in to the Lighthouse organisation, a suicide prevention charity in the North of the city.

Ms Ní Chuilín said:

“Praise must go to local residents who when hearing this attempted break in to a local suicide prevention organisation, the Lighthouse Organisation, promptly contacted the PSNI.

“There is no doubt the actions of neighbours prevented much more damage being done.

“Unfortunately however there was significant damage to the premises possibly totalling hundreds of pounds worth.

“Having spoken to the Lighthouse Organisation today to offer my support they are keen to let people know they are open and ready to help people in need as normal.

“Lighthouse is one of our most valued community organisations providing support to those in need and those at risk. The work they carry out  with regards to suicide prevention cannot be underestimated.

“Anyone with any further information in relation to this incident should come forward.”
