Councillor Chris Curran calls for clarity on Sage data breach
Sinn Féin councillor for Sandyford Glencullen, Chris Curran, an IT Consultant, has called on accounting, payroll and CRM software giant Sage, to outline the full effect, if any, on Irish businesses after the company reported a data breach.
Speaking today Councillor Curran said;
"I think Sage needs to confirm that no Irish companies are effected.
"Sage are a strong trusted brand with Irish operations based in Sandyford with strong roots in Ireland. Many Irish businesses depend on is software, employees depend on it for their salary payments and it’s critical they know if their data is secure.
"I'm calling on Sage to provide reassurance to business that their data is safe and if the breach has hit Irish businesses that they inform customers of exactly what services have been breached
"Sage are one of the largest global software companies and its critical we know if credit card numbers, customer, supplier and bank accounts detail, employee names, PPS numbers, serial numbers and activation codes have been compromised.”
