Sinn Fein welcomes draw for affordable housing
86 New Affordable homes allocated at Seven Oaks scheme
Speaking from City Hall today, Sinn Fein Cllr. Andrew O' Connell welcomed the draw for the 1st round allocation of 24 two bedroom apartments and 54 one bedroom apartments at the councils Seven Oaks scheme in Ballyfermot.
The draw, which was carried out by lottery was over seen by an independent solicitor. Cllr. O'Connell went on to say, "Myself and my colleagues on the council have fought hard to see an increase in affordable housing schemes being constructed in many of the large high rise apartment complexes being built across the city. Today will see 86 local people being given the opportunity to have their own homes.
The housing and transfer list for Dublin South Central area currently contains some 5,500 applicants for housing. While this is only the first stage of allocating the homes at the Seven Oaks scheme I am positive that given the level of construction taking place across the Dublin South Central area I believe that in the coming months and years we will really start eating into the figures on the housing and transfer lists.
Anyone wishing to apply for affordable housing or to follow up on their applications should contact Avril Feeney at the Affordable Housing Section, Dublin City Council: 01-2222454.
