Minister Ross must consult opposition on Olympic tickets inquiry - Munster

19 August, 2016 - by Imelda Munster TD

Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Sports Imelda Munster TD has said Minister Shane Ross should consult with his opposition colleagues on the type of inquiry he will establish into the Olympic tickets controversy.

Speaking today Teachta Munster said;

“After days of inaction from Minister Ross it now seems that he wants to push ahead and agree the format, publish the terms of reference and practically have the inquiry up and running by the end of the day without any consultation with the opposition.

“That’s not good enough.  Minister Ross needs to consult with all parties and independents in the Oireachtas.

“At the very least we should have sight of the draft terms of reference with the opportunity to propose amendments before he makes it public.

“At this stage in this sorry saga Sinn Féin favours a statutory inquiry.  We had previously called for Pat Hickey to appear before the Oireachtas Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport but given developments since we now believe a statutory inquiry with powers to compel witnesses is the best option.”
