Thirteen billion reasons why Fine Gael plays for the wrong team
Sinn Féin Finance spokesperson Pearse Doherty today unveiled a new billboard criticising the government’s decision to appeal the Apple tax ruling.
Speaking at the unveiling Teachta Doherty said;
“Last night Fine Gael, aided and abetted by Fianna Fáil and Labour voted to appeal the apple tax ruling effectively telling the EU Commission that we do not want the €13billion owed to us by Apple.
“It is hard to comprehend that these parties would do this considering we are in the middle of a health and housing crisis, when people are dying on our streets and kids are being brought up in hotel rooms.
“This government would rather stand up for one of the richest multi-national companies in the world than it would for the wellbeing of Irish citizens.
“This clearly shows that Fine Gael’s priority is with big business over ordinary people and, as our billboard says, they are playing for the wrong team.”
