Wide range of groups want to see Remain vote respected - Ní Chuilín

9 September, 2016 - by Carál Ní Chuilín

Sinn Féin MLA Carál Ní Chuilín has said a wide range of groups across society want to see the vote of the people of the North to remain in the EU to be respected.

Speaking after attending the second hearing of a joint legal challenge against Brexit, Ms Ní Chuilín said;

"Our call for a judicial review of Brexit has been put back for a week but I was encouraged by the fact that representatives of a wide range of groups were at the court today to support the challenge.

"Human rights groups, language activists, and children's campaigners joined political parties to call on the British government to respect the vote of the people of the north to remain in the EU

"We will be back in court next week to continue the campaign to have the democratic vote of the people of the North recognised.

"The fact is that the majority of people in the North - unionists, nationalists and others - voted to remain in the EU and that vote needs to be respected."
