Halligan’s drama ironic given his own failure to keep promise on School Transport – Carol Nolan TD
Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Education and Skills has today said it is ironic that the Minister of State for Training and Skills has created such a drama about the failure of Fine Gael to keep an alleged promise in relation to cardiac services in Waterford when he himself has failed to keep a clear commitment on school transport.
Deputy Nolan said:
“The Minister of State made a clear commitment that no child would lose their seat on the school bus this term.
“Unfortunately, the Minister of State has not kept his word.
“A significant number of children across this state have been left with no means of getting to school. Parents are furious and children are distraught.
“I sought a meeting with the Minister of State on this issue some time ago but it appears that he is more interested in political theatre than dealing with the issues that he is responsible for.
“It is ironic that the Minister of State has indulged in such drama in relation to a so called promise from Fine Gael to deliver a second cath-lab in Waterford, while he himself has failed to keep a clear commitment he made to schoolchildren.”
