Minister Ross must take his head out of the sand on Dublin Bus strike

15 September, 2016 - by Imelda Munster TD

Sinn Féin Transport spokesperson Imelda Munster TD has said Minister Shane Ross can no longer keep his head in the sand in relation to the Dublin Bus strike.

Teachta Munster was speaking this afternoon after another 13 days of strike action was announced today.

She said;

“It is simply not good enough for Minister Ross to continue to ignore this issue.  He must take his head out of the sand and bring all the relevant bodies to the negotiating table.

“This strike is causing havoc in our capital city with thousands of commuters struggling to get to work while businesses lose out on much needed custom.

“Bus drivers do not want to be engaged in industrial action but they are entitled to take this action in order to defend their livelihoods.

“Workers have no other option but to continue with strike action in the absence of any willingness on the part of Dublin Bus and the Department of Transport to er-enter negotiations.

“The extra strike days announced today can and should be avoided but it needs everybody to work together to find a solution.  That includes Minister Ross.”
