Government stonewall Dublin City Council on monies owed for Ballymun regeneration works – Reilly
Ballymun Sinn Féin Councillor Noeleen Reilly has said she is disappointed that funds due from the Department of Environment to Dublin City Council for Ballymun regeneration works have still not been paid and the department are now ignoring all correspondence.
Cllr Reilly said:
“I am very concerned at the continued delay by the Department of Environment in handing over Ballymun Regeneration funds.
“There is currently €16.8m outstanding for works completed during the regeneration. The Department gave a commitment that they would cover the cost of these projects.
“Yet, in some cases, almost ten years can be spent waiting on these funds. This is not acceptable and questions the credibility of current funding promises made by the same department for housing.
“The regeneration finished prematurely with a number of projects still not completed including roads, drainage, transport and most of all a shopping centre.
“This has left huge frustration within the community.
“I am calling on the Minister to immediately release the funds to DCC for all completed projects and to set up an arrangement for additional funding where projects have been cancelled.”
