Young people have huge concerns over Brexit - Anderson
Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said young people from across Ireland have deep concerns about the potential of being dragged out of the EU.
Speaking from Brussels where she is hosting a delegation of young people, Ms Anderson said;
"I am currently hosting a delegation of 39 young people from across Ireland in Brussels to discuss the impact of the recent EU referendum.
"The delegation is made up of representatives from student unions, youth councils and youth groups.
"They will meet various groups including the European Youth Forum, NGOs and Commission representatives to discuss how the EU referendum result will impact on a range of issues such as the Erasmus study programme and Peace funding.
"We will also be meeting with Irish MEPs to impress on them the responsibility of the Irish government to safeguard the interests of Irish citizens in the North, including young people.
"The young people will also be challenging the Irish government to establish an all-Ireland forum to discuss the impact of Brexit and to ensure such a forum listens to the voice of young people.
"The majority of people in the North, including young people, voted to remain in the EU and that vote must be respected to protect the opportunities for young people the EU brings."
