British and Irish governments need to act to break funding log jam - O'Dowd
Sinn Féin MLA John O'Dowd has said the British and Irish governments need to act to break a log jam, which is holding up €120m European funding.
Mr O'Dowd said;
"My party colleague and Finance Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir told the Assembly today that there is currently a log jam of letters of offer for EU funding worth €120 million.
"This funding is for a range of cross-border, transformational, environmental and health projects.
"Great efforts had been made to speed up funding applications to help the work of a range of groups.
"We now need to see the British and Irish governments and the EU Commission work to release this vital funding immediately.
"This log jam has been brought about because of the uncertainty over Brexit.
"The Irish government in particular have a role to play in lobbying both the British government and the EU Commission to have this funding released as it relates to cross-border projects benefitting Irish citizens north and south."
