Imelda Munster TD welcomes suspension of bus strike and pending ballot of workers
Sinn Féin Spokesperson for Transport, Imelda Munster TD has welcomed the suspension of the Dublin Bus strike, and the improvement in the workers’ pay offer from the original Labour Court offer of 8.25% to an 11.25% increase over three years.
However, the acceptance of these proposals will depend on the outcome of a ballot of the workers next week.
Deputy Munster said:
“I would like to commend the workers for their resilience and their determination to stand up for workers’ rights, having significantly contributed to returning Dublin Bus to profit and foregoing a pay increase for the past eight years, along with enduring other cost cutting measures”.
“The strike was difficult for all concerned, passengers and workers alike, and hopefully we may now have a resolution in sight”.
“In the interim it’s good news for passengers, in particular GAA fans ahead of Saturday’s All-Ireland Football Final replay in Croke Park.”
