Nolan meets with Regional Manager of the IDA to discuss job creation measures in Offaly
Sinn Féin TD for Offaly and North Tipperary, Teachta Carol Nolan has today met with the regional manager of the IDA, Paul Veale, in Leinster House to discuss job creation in the midlands area.
Deputy Nolan said:
“I was glad to get the opportunity to meet with the regional manager of the IDA in Leinster House today to discuss the need for a job creation strategy for the midlands.
“Edenderry currently has the second highest rate of building vacancy in the state, while Banagher has the highest youth unemployment rate in the county.
“It is vitally important that we intensify efforts to create sustainable local jobs that will see our communities thrive into the future.
“Offaly has massive potential for investment and those that have set up here have reaped the benefits of our highly skilled workforce.
“Smaller local companies also have a vital role to play and I have encouraged the IDA to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that adequate supports are there to assist those in a position to create jobs in our towns and villages.
“I have assured the Regional Manager, Mr Veale, that I will do all in my power to assist in bringing investment and economic growth to the region and will assist the IDA and Offaly County Council in their combined efforts to create local jobs for our communities.”
