British Army recruitment should be rejected – Hargey
Sinn Féin councillor Deirdre Hargey said she hopes that young Irish people give the British Army a resounding no as they carry out a recruitment drive in South Belfast today.
The South Belfast councillor said:
“Hopefully the British Army recruitment drive in South Belfast, clearly aimed at students, will be rejected by the young people of the area. British soldiers shouldn’t be on our streets.
“People in the community here have a very real experience of the brutality and oppression of the British Army and their current actions overseas have caused many thousands of deaths and mass destruction.
“I would strongly advise any young person considering joining the British Army to rethink what they are doing.”
