Termonfeckin school extension back on track – Munster
Sinn Féin TD Imelda Munster has confirmed that things appear to be moving in the right direction for staff, pupils, and the community in Termonfeckin.
Deputy Munster said having firstly raised the issue with the Minister in Leinster House asking why the department had reneged on their commitment to fund the 7 classroom extension this year given the serious overcrowding and growth in population in the Termonfeckin area.
The Louth TD said:
“I had also informed the Minister that this had come as a devastating blow to the community who had campaigned so hard over the years for this extension. The Minister had pledged to go back to the department saying there maybe extra expenditure available.
“I had follow up meetings and had literally hounded the Minister in an attempt to secure the funding and to put right the earlier broken promise that had caused staff and pupils such disappointment. Today, Minister John Halligan contacted me to inform me that the school extension build will go out to tender and that the school extension will now go ahead.”
