Irish government plan to help north remain in EU needed - Ó Donnghaile
Sinn Féin Seanadóir Niall Ó Donnghaile has said the Irish government needs a dedicated plan to see the entire island of Ireland remain in the EU.
Speaking after today's meeting of the Good Friday Agreement implementation committee, Seanadóir Ó Donnghaile said;
"It is clear there is a great deal of uncertainty over the plans by the British government to leave the EU.
"There is a responsibility on the Irish government to act decisively over this uncertainty.
"The Irish government needs to represent all Irish citizens and work with other parties to convince other EU member states that the whole island of Ireland must remain in the EU.
"It is time for the Irish government to begin a high profile and sustained lobby of the EU to ensure all of Ireland remains inside the EU on the basis of credible, practical and sustainable proposals."
