Joined up approach needed to tackle paramilitarism and criminality - Kelly
Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has said a joined-up approach is needed to tackle paramilitarism and criminality.
Mr Kelly said;
"We are all agreed there is no place in our society for paramilitary organisations.
"In order to effectively tackle these groups we need to see joined-up thinking involving departments, statutory authorities and communities.
"That joined-up approach needs to be supported with adequate resources.
"The vast majority of people want to be rid of the scourge of paramilitarism and organised crime but they can not do it alone.
"Communities must be empowered to build and develop levels of confidence in our new policing dispensation, our criminal justice system and our peace and political processes while helping to deliver an unequivocal commitment to the rule of law."
