Rank hypocrisy from Nesbitt - McVeigh

18 November, 2016 - by Jim McVeigh

Sinn Féin councillor Jim McVeigh has accused UUP leader Mike Nesbitt of rank hypocrisy over his criticism of the Social Investment Fund.

Councillor McVeigh said;

"Mike Nesbitt is now shouting from the rooftops to anyone who'll listen about the Social Investment Fund (SIF) and its structure.

"This is despite the fact that in 2014 Mike chaired a meeting where officials provided a briefing on the structures and workings of the fund.

"And in 2015 he praised the 'bottom up' approach of SIF and its models.

"Was he not paying attention during the briefing or did he not mean what he said?

“Or is he is simply looking to score cheap political points in an attempt to cover up for the lack of any concrete vision or strategy from his so-called opposition.

"I think the public will see this as yet another stunt from the former anchorman but his comments could put the huge amount of good work carried out by SIF funded projects in jeopardy.

"I would challenge Mike to come out and see that good work for himself in my own area of west Belfast so he can see the difference SIF is making in communities."
