Kearney welcomes Croí Éanna Funding Award
South Antrim MLA, Declan Kearney, has welcomed the announcement from An Ciste Infhéistíochta of its £403k award to Croí Éanna in Hightown, County Antrim.
"I am so delighted to welcome this funding award to Croí Éanna. It is great news, and I want to commend and acknowledge Císte Infheistíochta on its decision.
"This funding will complement the £800k already confirmed for this pioneering Irish language and culture project from the Social Investment Fund to help it develop a community social hub.
"Over recent years the Irish language community has flourished in the Hightown area, bordering South Antrim and North Belfast. That has come about due to the amazing dedication, enthusiasm and energy of the strong team of cultural activists and their families involved with Croí Éanna. They are a truly inspirational group of people.
"The planned community hub will provide a key facility to further promote the Irish language, sports and culture within the Hightown community. It will reinforce the advances of Gaelscoil Éanna, and of course the growth of Naomh Éanna GAC.
"This is a landmark funding decision and a tribute to the hard work of local people. So many local children will now yield the fruit of these efforts in years to come.
"The new build project will also serve to inspire others elsewhere, and especially in South Antrim where Gaeiloideachas continues to flourish and grow in Crumlin, Tannaghmore, and also Toome, where plans to exist to open a Naíscoil.
"I look forward to continuing to work with Croí Éanna towards further future success."
