Adams to give Keynote at Irish Language event in Dublin

Dublin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh has welcomed the announcemen that Sinn Féin’s annual event Slógadh Shinn Féin to be held in Richmond Barracks this Saturday (3 Dec).

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams will deliver the keynote address to the event, which starts at 10am on Saturday.

Speaking prior to the event an Teachta Ó Snodaigh said,

“It is fitting as we celebrate 100 years from the 1916 Rising, that Sinn Féin will hold the annual Slógadh in the historical venue of Richmond Barracks.

“Gerry Adams TD will deliver the keynote address and we will have a number of interesting guest speakers; including, Norman Uprichard from East Belfast Mission, Clare Spáinneach from Gaeloideachas, Paula Melvin from Pobal Gaeilge 15, Pilib Ó Ruanaí from Iontaobhas ; as well as Teachtaí Dála Peadar Toibín andCarol Nolan. SF Irish Language Spokesperson Barry McElduff will also take part.

“We will be discussing matters generally relating to the Irish Language but we will also have particular discussion regarding questions of identity and the importance of Irish Medium Education.”

He continued,

“This is a bi-lingual event and all are welcome to attend.”

“We look forward to an interesting and vibrant event, and would encourage anyone with an interest in the Irish language to come along and participate in this event.”
