Sinn Féin launches election billboard Campaign
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams today launched a new party billboard this afternoon in West Belfast. He was joined by party colleagues Mitchel McLaughlin, Alex Maskey, Caitríona Ruane, Michelle Gildernew, Martin McGuinness, Conor Murphy, Gerry Kelly and Pat Doherty.
Mr Adams said:
"Sinn Féin is standing candidates in all 18 Westminster constituencies. We are also standing 183 Local Government candidates, more than ever before, and we are seeking to win seats on a number of local councils for the first time. This election will undoubtedly be a real battle with a number of the constituencies too close to call.
"More and more people recognise and value Sinn Féin's leading role in the peace process, our work on Local Councils and within local communities. Sinn Féin is about building an Ireland of equals. A vote for Sinn Fein is a vote for the peace process, a vote for a united Ireland and a vote for equality.
"Sinn Féin never takes the electorate for granted - we have been on the doorsteps for the past number of weeks and the response we are receiving is very encouraging. In addition to the raft of very important social and economic matters which are coming up on the various canvasses the issue of rebuilding the process is a constant across all of the constituencies.
"This is a crucially important election. It is about who is best to give the kind of leadership that will end conflict build and equality on this island. We are looking forward to the coming three weeks and the challenges which will lie ahead during the campaign." ENDS
