Inquiry Must Expose Truth Around Killing Of Rosemary Nelson
Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly, spokesperson on policing and justice attended the Opening Hearing of the Rosemary Nelson Inquiry. He was accompanied by Sinn Fein colleagues Dr Dara O Hagan and Cllr John O Dowd MLA.
Afterwards, Mr Kelly said that he hoped that the opening hearing of the Rosemary Nelson inquiry would not be a false dawn:
"Sinn Fein has supported Rosemary's family in their search for the truth. The extent to which British state agencies or agents colluded in threatening, targeting and killing Rosemary must be revealed.
"The opening of this inquiry into Rosemary's murder is the first opportunity in 6 years her family have had to move on. There is an onerous responsibility on the Inquiry team to help the family do that.
"There is also a requirement to build confidence and trust in the wider nationalist and republican community. Many people remain deeply sceptical about the willingness of the British government and its securocrats to fully co-operate in exposing the truth about collusion in this society."Ends
