Will Bertie buckle under pressure from Harney

23 April, 2005

Commenting on the recent rift between Fianna Fáil and the PD‚s over plans for a second terminal at Dublin Airport Sinn Féin TD Arthur Morgan said he will be "eagerly awaiting the outcome of this one." He said that "we might finally see if the PD's really are wagging the tail of the Fianna Fáil dog."

Speaking in Dublin this morning he said, „The recent rift between Fianna Fáil and the PD‚s over the second terminal at Dublin Airport has been very interesting indeed and I will be eagerly awaiting the outcome of this one. The big question is, will Bertie buckle under pressure from Harney?

"I have often wondered who really rules the roost at cabinet level. Is it Bertie? Or is it Mary Harney? The outcome of this rift might finally tell us. We might finally see if the PD‚s really are wagging the tail of the Fianna Fáil dog.

"Sinn Féin's position is clear, we believe that a second terminal is vital for the overall development of the airport but we don‚t believe that it should fall into the hands of private developers.

"Unfortunately I don‚t think Bertie is going to win this one. My prediction is that he will go the distance but Mary will win on points." ENDS
