Doolan welcomes Temple Bar transformation
Sinn Féin Dublin Spokesperson on Environment and Representative for Dublin South East Councillor Daithí Doolan, has welcomed, "the great transformation that has taken place in Temple Bar this weekend."
Speaking in Temple Bar today, Cllr. Doolan said:
"To mark International Earth Day the streets of Temple Bar have been turned in to a colourful, vibrant Earth Fair. Organised by Sustainable Ireland and TASCQ and proudly supported by City Council, the fair is the first of it‚s kind in the capital. And it is happening right here in the heart of Dublin. The fair will feature flower festival, children's events, stalls, world music and street theatre.
"The fair will also clearly reflect the changing face of Dublin with food and multi cultural stalls from countries all over the world including Cuba, Pakistan, Japan and Brazil.
"The aim of this event is to promote a more sustainable, healthier and multi cultural Ireland. This is a great event and I am proud to support it in my capacity as City Councillor, to ensure maximum enjoyment City Council have closed Essex Street off to traffic.‚‚
In conclusion Cllr. Doolan said, „this is just one of example of how Dublin's city centre can be made accessible and lead the way in promoting a sustainable and healthier future for all residents."
