"They are a scourge on Dublin and its people" - Mary Lou McDonald TD strongly condemns shooting in West Dublin
Sinn Féin Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald TD has strongly condemned the shooting dead of man in West Dublin earlier this evening.
Describing the spate of shootings in recent months as "a scourge on Dublin and its people", Deputy McDonald called on anybody with any information about this murder to bring it to the attention of An Garda Síochána.
"I condemn in the strongest possible terms the shooting in Ronanstown earlier tonight. I want to say of those involved that they are a scourge on Dublin and the good people of our city.
"They go about their brutal business with no concern for the fear that they inflict on our communities and with zero regard for the innocents who may be caught up in their terrible acts.
"I am urging anybody with information to make that available to An Garda Síochána.
"This violence must be brought to an end rapidly, before any more lives are lost. The Minister for Justice and the Garda Commissioner must dedicate all the appropriate resources to dealing with the violent criminal gangs in our capital city.
"The actions of those involved in these crimes are an affront to the spirit of Dublin. Our communities, our families, and all who inhabit this city, have had enough. We are done with being caught up in this seemingly endless cycle of violence.
"It is time for it to stop, once and for all. It is the responsibility of Minister Fitzgerald and Commissioner O'Sullivan to ensure that we see this goal achieved sooner rather than later."
