Northside Community Law Centre must remain open and continue to represent marginalized communities
North Dublin Sinn Féin Councillor Larry O'Toole has expressed his disappointment at news today that The Northside Community Law Centre is likely to close due to the lack of adequate funding after 30 years of operation and having being involved in many campaigns and represented thousands of people from the local community.
Speaking in Dublin today Councillor O'Toole said, "Over the past thirty years Northside Community Law Centre has been involved in many campaigns and represented thousands of people in the local community.
"I was disappointed to hear that the Centre is at high risk and it is likely that it cannot proceed beyond the next few months. Already it has started to refuse new cases. The center provides a vital service to the local community and it is critical that it remains open and continues to represent marginalized communities.
"I have written to the Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Seamus Brennan, to urge him to ensure that adequate funding is available for the centre to continue its campaigning, educational, research and advocacy work. I await his reply." ENDS
