Tragedy underlines need for immediate action - Ó Caoláin

27 April, 2005

Commenting on news that a man died in the Mater Hospital on Tuesday evening, having spent several days on a trolley in the A&E ward, Sinn Féin Health spokesperson Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin stated:

"The tragic death of John Glynn emphasises the need for immediate and urgent action to address the crisis in our A&E units. The Irish Nurses Organisation has highlighted what needs to be done. The Taoiseach and his Cabinet have had nearly eight years in government to sort this out. In the Dáil yesterday and again today he failed to recognise this for the crisis that it is.

"I extend sympathy to the family of the deceased and urge people to support the INO and other front-line health service workers in their campaign for justice."ENDS
