Senator Paul Gavan Calls for Support for Shannon Trump Demo

31 January, 2017 - by Paul Gavan

Sinn Féin Senator Paul Gavan has called on the general public living in the Mid-West to come out and support this Thursday's planned protest at Shannon Airport against US President Donald Trump's immigration ban on Muslims and refugees.

Senator Gavan said;

"President Trump's executive order is an affront to human rights- people can now be barred from planes at Shannon because of their religion or country of origin. The US government is now denying refugees,asylum seekers, and even visa holders entry.This policy is being implemented at our local airport as part of US pre- clearance arrangements. Meanwhile US military on their way to inflict death and destruction throughout the Middle East can pass through without even an inspection."

The Castleconnell based Senator is also calling on Limerick's public representatives to take a stand for peace and justice and join the protest which is scheduled for this Thursday 2nd February at 6pm.

"Join the protest and insist on an end to these wicked measures which are being implemented on our doorstep in County Clare each day right now."
