Capital review announcement is merely 'spin' - David Cullinane TD
David Cullinane, Sinn Féin spokesperson for public expenditure and reform, said last night that Minister Donohoe's announcement of a capital review was done to take the heat away from the government's non-existent rural plan and little else.
Deputy Cullinane said:
"Minister Donohoe held a press conference where he merely said that he was about to ask the various government departments for their wish-list of capital projects.
"That was it. That was the announcement, and yet that got spun as if he had announced new spending.
"It is clear that the government is on the back foot over their abandonment of rural Ireland and the pathetic €60m in funds allocated to rural projects over three years.
"The review is nothing more than something that has been announced three times already.
"The Minister needs to stop spinning and start acting."
