Ó Muilleoir sets out case for designated status
Sinn Féin's Máirtín Ó Muilleoir said today he set out the case for the north to achieve designated special status within the EU at today's Joint Ministerial Council.
Speaking following today's meeting of the Joint Ministerial Council in London, Minister Ó Muilleoir said;
"At today's meeting of the Joint Ministerial Council in London I made it clear that Brexit is a disaster for the entire island of Ireland.
"The people of the north made it clear that they want to see their future within the EU in June's referendum.
"British secretary of state James Brokenshire has no mandate in the north and has no basis to attempt to deny our call for designated special status.
"Sinn Féin has written to European leaders setting out our case for designated special status for the North within the EU.
"We want to see the Irish government and all progressive parties working collectively to achieve that."
