Martin Kenny TD expresses deep concern at closure of Harold's Cross Greyhound Stadium
Sinn Féin Agriculture Spokesman, Martin Kenny TD, tonight expressed deep concern at the closure of Harold's Cross Greyhound Stadium and the manner in which the closure was handled.
Deputy Kenny said:
"This stadium has been operating since 1927 and was a much-loved track for the smaller owners and trainers.
"It was a popular track for generations of Dublin punters too and clearly the greyhound racing fraternity are extremely upset about this closure.
"I will be seeking an explanation from the Irish Greyhound Board at the earliest opportunity.
"The Horse and Greyhound Bill will be before the Dáil shortly and it will provide an opportunity to examine the workings of the industries and the extent of exchequer funding they receive."
