Sinn Féin is standing up for remain vote mandate - Flynn
Sinn Féin's Órlaithí Flynn has said Sinn Féin is standing up for the democratic mandate of the 74 per cent of people in west Belfast who voted to remain in the EU.
The West Belfast candidate said;
"The people of the North clearly voted to remain in the EU in June's referendum.
"I welcome the fact that a Sinn Féin motion calling on the Irish government to negotiate designated special status for the north within the EU was passed in the Dáil.
"People before Profit campaigned for Brexit alongside the DUP, UKIP and the British far right of the Tory party despite the disastrous impact this would have on workers' rights, employment, trade and imposing a EU frontier across Ireland.
"The imposition of Brexit with the support of People Before Profit ignores the will of the people of the north, including the 74 per cent in West Belfast who voted to remain in the EU.
"Today in the Dáil the People Before Profit refused to support the Sinn Fein motion for special status for the North within the EU. This is a calculated insult to the people of West Belfast and of the north."
