Johnathan O’Brien TD calls on all those opposed to water charges to mobilise for one last push
Sinn Féin TD Jonathan O’Brien, a member of the Special Committee on Water, has called on all those opposed to domestic water charges to mobilise for one last push on the 8th of April.
The Cork North Central TD said:
“Thanks to the unwavering efforts of Right2Water campaigners across the State, the abolition of domestic water charges is now firmly in our sights.
“We are asking all those who still opposed to any sort of domestic water charges to once again take to the streets and let Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil know that any charge for so called excess use is not acceptable.
“Irish people are not wilful wasters of water and any sort of excess charge would be seen as an effort to bring domestic charges back via the backdoor. Given Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil’s history do we really trust them not to do so?
"The work of the Special Oireachtas
Committee on water did not need to be extended to facilitate a backroom
deal between these two parties. The Right2Water movement is where the
campaign against domestic water charges began and we aim to see it
through until the very end.”
