Need for further investigation into NAMA sale - Murphy

14 March, 2017 - by Conor Murphy

Sinn Féin MLA Conor Murphy has said there is clearly a need for further investigation into the NAMA sale in the interests of integrity in government.

Conor Murphy said:

"We welcome the publication of the report from the Public Accounts Committee in the Dáil into the NAMA sale.

"Quite clearly this is an ongoing matter of public interest.

"The Committee found that the handling of this affair was flawed, compromised and led to a significant loss of taxpayers’ money.

"There is reference to a meeting which took place involving a former member of NAMA’s northern advisory committee Frank Cushnahan among others and senior members of the DUP.

"Clearly there is a need for a Commission of Investigation into the entire NAMA affair in the South and we call on all of those involved to come forward and assist that process.

"We have put integrity at the heart of government centre stage in the recent election campaign because it is a hugely important issue and one that the public is entitled to answers to."
