A world class health service requires fair pay and working conditions for its workers - David Cullinane TD
Sinn Féin Workers’ Rights spokesperson David Cullinane TD has said in order to have a world class health service we must have proper terms and conditions for health workers with fair rates of pay and a good working environment.
Teachta Cullinane said Sinn Féin has the solution to the health crisis but it will need serious investment which his party is prepared to commit.
“When you combine unrealistic workloads, staff shortages, extended working hours and a sense of a frustration with the lack of change in the healthcare system, it is no surprise that HSE recruitment campaigns have failed.
“Without addressing the issues of pay restoration; staffing levels; working hours; and workloads, the health service is doomed to remain in perpetual crisis.
“We need to build a World Class National Health Service for Ireland that values its health workers and ensures fair pay and good working conditions for all.
“We are calling on those who work in the health service to join with Sinn Féin in campaigning for this World Class National Health Service for Ireland.
“It will require serious investment but it must be a priority because we cannot stand over a system that sees our sick and elderly lying on hospital trolleys and more than 600,000 of our citizens waiting for procedures many in chronic pain.”
