British government and DUP not focused on progress
Sinn Féin MLA Michelle O'Neill has said there has been little progress in the current talks because the British government and DUP have not focused on the key issues.
Speaking at Stormont, Michelle O'Neill said:
"Sinn Féin entered these talks on the basis of securing the implementation of previous agreements and the restoration of the political institutions on the basis of equality, respect and integrity.
"We have fully engaged in these discussions but so there have been a lot of meetings but little progress on the key issues.
"It’s clear that the British government and the DUP have not focused on the key issues, which were at the heart of the recent election.
"We want to see the institutions work but they must work on the basis of equality, integrity and respect and delivery for all.
"Let me be absolutely clear there can be no return to the status quo."
